Last week we where asked by Trafigura to investigate the circumstances surrounding the gifschip Probo Koala.
On August 10th in the city of Abidjan 10 people were killed after they had inhaled toxic fumes. Thousands have become ill. On behalf of the victims a process was started against Trafigura.

Three employees of Trafigura who were trapped in Ivory Coast, are now Free. From day 1 Trafigura  toke their moral responsibility for the disaster, but assumes no liability.

The owner of the ship Probo Koala, Trafigura, has reached a settlement with the government of Ivory Coast. The company Trafigura pays 152 million euros as compensation for cleaning.

During the investigation it was quickly determined that the Dutch government and the municipality of Amsterdam have made serious mistakes and Trafigura is not to blame.
